my FENDER BALBOA
The comfort of a FENDER STRATOCASTER NECK & an ACOUSTIC body
with venetian style cutaway,
Kind of weird combination !!!

This model was build by Fender Japan in 1983-1987 and was the top model
of the California semi-acoustic series

First Dutch owner, Randy William, bought this instrument at the SERVAAS
musicstore in The Hague, Netherlands and kept it many years until he
decided to sell it to another Dutch musician.
I could buy it in 2008 from the Belgian singer/songwriter & TV personality
Gunther Thomas better know as “Gene Thomas”. It was part of his
“Fender” collection. I did’nt ask why he sold it, I was too happy !!

As I said, it is a strange mix but it’s a superb guitar with a very low action as
expected from a STRAT neck and it is very easy to play, it just feels great. It
was set-up by Rik Crommen ( Rick’s rock shop in Tongeren)

I’m not a guitar virtuoso but know the difference between a poor cigar box
& a good guitar, this is a very nice one.

Here are the specs, there is not very much more to find about this guitar on
the net.
